Why do we still get credit card junk mail?
To find credit card information and application forms online
is simply a case of entering a few keywords into a search engine such as Google
or Yahoo. Not only will these searches return the website links for all the
major financial institutions they will find links to websites such as this that
offer credit card information articles and online credit card application links.
Often these websites will provide credit card comparison tables showing the
offered credit card balance transfer rates and other promotional offers as well
and the information about the standard rates and charges of the credit cards
available on the current market. These online credit card searches return
millions of results and even if you try and narrow the query criteria you will
still find millions of results e.g. searching for low credit rating credit cards
or credit rating credit cards.
Anyone would think that credit card companies would give up on the
"expensive" direct mail that comes through our letter boxes on an all too
frequent basis. However recent reports suggest that online marketing and gaining
of credit card and other financial product customers is actually very expensive
online. This is due to the advertising pollution created by all the websites and
associated emails and traffic on the internet. This traffic is often spam and
not related to the recipient’s geographic region or specific financial position
meaning that for credit card providers to get spotted online is even harder than
direct mailing their prospective targets by traditional snail mail....

Another Perl in the Oyster
Barclays the high street bank used by millions has announced
that it has been in discussions with Transport for London. They have reached an
agreement that Barclays can add Oyster capabilites to their credit or debit
cards. This is great news because it seems that some of the profit from the use
of the cards will be invested in the London transport system and let's face it
the less cards and wallets we have to carry about the better! I for one will be
keeping my eye out for this.

eBay Security
Increasingly people are using eBay for their online shopping
and for good reason it is a great place to find a bargain but what happens when
it goes wrong? When the person doesn't send the goods, and perhaps does not even
exist? If you have paid by credit card can you claim the loss? It is worth going
the eBay Security Centre and having a quick read
eBay Security Centre.
The End of Free Balance Transfer's?
Lots of financial experts and journalist are talking about
free or cheap promotional credit card deals coming to an end and credit card
providers going back to offering standard rates only. Indeed American Express
have already withdrawn there 0% balance transfer cards. They seem to be trying
to send a message to both the consumer that cheap credit is running out and to
the industry to get tough on credit card stoozing (the practise of moving debt
between credit cards to try and never pay interest.) However it seems unlikely
that all credit card providers will pull out of the promotional balance transfer
market. It would be very simple for one provider to continue the 0% balance
transfer offers and stop the end to the market that so many take advantage of..

Balance Transfer Calculator Added
We have added a balance transfer calculator on the
main page of the site. This allows vistors to calculate the approximate
savings they will get if they balance transfer to another credit card e.g. a 0%
APR rate or low interest for the life of the balance. We are planning to add
more calculators at a later time when we get a chance so keep checking back with
us here.
